Synthotech are delighted to have been successful at the Gas Industry Awards. Synthotech have won the prestigious “Company of the Year” and “Innovation Project of the Year Award” and were shortlisted for the “Innovation Product of the Year Award” and Rob Lumb for “Young Person of the Year”.
Synthotech are delighted to have received the honour of “Company of the Year” at the Gas Industry Awards 2017.

Synthotech has a long association with the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM) and the Energy and Utilities Alliance (EUA) having had two past IGEM Presidents and currently four section members across the UK. Synthotech has an active graduate development programme which has seen four graduates qualify as engineers over the last two years, and a further three engineers qualify as Chartered Engineers.
Project GRAID
We are delighted to be announced as winners with our collaboration partners led by National Grid Gas Transmission to have received the honour of “Innovation Project of the Year” at the Gas Industry Awards 2017 for Project GRAID
Mark Tindley, Managing Director of Synthotech said “We are delighted that Project GRAID has won the Innovation Project Award. As part of a collaboration between National Grid Gas Transmission, Premtech, PIE and Synthotech, we have pushed the boundaries of technology to develop a robot that will be able to operate at 100bar pressure. Currently undergoing live gas trials we are at such exciting times for this project, and it is fabulous that this has been recognised by the Gas Industry Awards, with thanks to both the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers and The Energy and Utilities Alliance.”
John White, Senior Principal Engineer at Synthotech on Project GRAID said “This is a great accolade to the whole GRAID team, with particular mention to the robotic design and development team at Synthotech who have worked tirelessly to deliver world’s first robotics for non-piggable pipes at high pressure.”
Project GRAID has been a two year project to develop a robotic platform and Non-destructive testing system for Above Ground Installations on the National Transmission System, where condition assessment has previously required costly and difficult excavations.
