Charlotte, one of Synthotech’s robotic survey systems known as Synthotrax, has been safely carrying out surveys inside live medium pressure gas distribution mains. Charlotte is live-launched into the main via a 6” drilling, and is used on mains up to 48” diameter. Client Network Supervisor stated:
“The positive camera survey carried out, remote of the [main road] junction, will prove valuable when locating the gas escape at this traffic sensitive location. By locating all joints and direction of the 24” MP main will minimise excavations carried out which reduces disruption and inconvenience to the public.”
Have a look at what Charlotte found – a crack? Liquid ingress? What do you think?
