Introducing TITAN™ and Technology with Vision™

Synthotech are delighted to launch TITAN™, the world’s first Pan and Tilt camera for live access into Tier Two Gas Distribution Mains (10” to 18”) through a 2” BSP tapping using either WASK, ALH or Pipetech under pressure drilling bases.

In 2008, Synthotech were the first company to provide a Pan and Tilt camera for full circumferential vision in 12” to 18” Gas Distribution Mains. The Pan and Tilt was inserted under live conditions into Tier Two pipes using an ALH under pressure drilling base and a 2-1/2” BSP Non-Tapped hole. This was the world’s first full vision survey system through a small diameter tapping for Tier Two pipe, and provided the global gas industry with true vision. The cost savings combined with keyhole technology was a true game changer in how large diameter pipes were viewed.

The TITAN™ System has been designed for use with 9mm and 15mm insertion coilers to maximize push distance in large diameter mains, while providing directional lighting and visibility to give a complete picture in 10” to 18” metallic mains.

This week, the Synthotech Technical Support Engineers have surveyed over 600m of a 12” Metallic Low Pressure main in South Wales. This work was in assistance to the local Mains Replacement Program, locating joints, plugs and service connections, with an average insertion distance of over 50metres.

Synthotech is a company that innovates, engineers and delivers. Synthotech is the leading supplier of live access vision and robotic systems to the UK gas distribution industry and are constantly developing innovative solutions to operational requirements. As the gas industry enters the second half of RIIO, and the attention in construction / replacement and management of Tier Two pipes becomes more pressing, the UK gas industry is embracing not just innovative technology but Technology with Vision.

TITAN™ has been designed specifically for the live gas distribution market for use up to 2barg, in mains up to 18”.  The camera head rotates back on itself to protect and aid the insertion process. The slim design makes it easy to push and to insert through a small 2” BSP tapping hole.

TITAN™ has engineered out the glass dome from the original Pan and Tilt and combined it with a super bright LED array which has been designed specifically for Tier Two diameter pipes, while the camera uses the latest CCD technology to provide an excellent bright, clear, crisp picture.
