Busy week for Synthotech’s Robotics teams

Both TORS and SynthoTrax TITAN have been out and about this week.

Synthotech specialist robotics team were this week undertaking a trial with eight20 in partnership with Thames water.  The team were looking to transfer small bore robotics developed in the UK gas industry into the water sector.  The trial involved the identification and removal of spray material from ferrules on a potable water pipe.  The successful trial took place in London, and Wez Little Innovations director said:

“Today we were able to show the capability of robotics to undertake complex work that would normally require excavations”

Synthotech’s Technical Support Engineers have also been out with SynthoTrax TITAN to complete an 100m Above Ground Installation (AGI) survey with Gas Networks Ireland. The 36” transmission pipe will be tied into a new pipeline that will be supply gas to Ireland. The 85bar pipe has been filled with nitrogen for the last few years and the customer wanted to see that the inside of the pipe had not deteriorated. As you can see from the photos below the survey went well and showed no signs of significant deterioration.
