A UK Gas Distribution Network put an end to 88 repeat visits over 2 years by using the latest in water extraction technology for live gas mains.
A 4” main in a busy residential area was causing repeated problems for a GDN, with one particular property repeatedly going off gas due to water being drawn up through the service.
After 88 repeat visits to remove water from a syphon pot, Synthotech were called to assist with their new Water Extraction System.
The system allowed for water to be removed continuously whilst carrying out a CCTV survey along the main. The survey located a fracture below the waterline which was subsequently repaired.
