Synthotech Secures Prestigious Accolade: Yorkshire Business of the Year Award for Innovation

Synthotech are very proud to announce that we were awarded the Yorkshire Business of the Year award for Innovation!

We were against very strong competition which followed a robust assessment process, and we would like to congratulate all the nominees and winners as well as TheBusinessDesk.com, the organisers of the event for an incredible evening.

Mark Tindley, Synthotech’s Managing director, stated “This is a great accolade for us, as it was voted by local businesspeople who are not specifically involved with the gas or water industries. This stands as a tribute to the business, the engineering department and every single person who represents us.”

Joining us for the evening were our friends, Nathan and Zoe Lane from Campfire PR, Martin Allison from Rosedale Advisory, David Keeling from Key Engineering, Miles Elsden from the Institute for Safe Autonomy and Iain Foster from Northern Gas Networks (NGN).

“Synthotech has only been able to achieve this accolade through its relentless pursuit of our vision to build World Class Yorkshire Robots and the support of its partners and collaborators. Particular thanks must go to NGN who are pioneers of robotic technology within the gas industry.

“Over the past five years we’ve worked with NGN to explore how we can use robotics to identify gas leaks and repair pipes to reduce the number of excavations the company needs to make, thereby speeding up repair times, reducing traffic disruption and delivering cost efficiencies as well as minimising environmental impact.”

NGN has partnered with Synthotech on five development projects over the last five years, in particular two major robotic systems, developing four platforms that can not only detect gas leaks from within a pipe, but safely complete the repair quickly and efficiently.

Mark Tindley said “Northern Gas Networks is a great partner for innovation, helping us to drive robotics and world class solutions into the gas industry. One of the robotics systems that we developed with NGN has recently been featured in an article in the Daily Telegraph about how our Yorkshire robots were used by another gas network to fix all the leaks in on the route of the coronation last year. When you think of Yorkshire exports, robots isn’t one of those that springs to mind, but here in Yorkshire we make some of the worlds leading live access robot systems. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us this past year and throughout our journey as a company and within our innovations. This award is testament to how successful collaboration through the supply chain can be.
