The Tier One Replacement System (TORS) sails through its street trials.
In late 2012 Synthotech started work on a collaboration project with Cadent Gas Ltd (formally NGG Distribution) to develop an in-pipe robotic platform to enable remote service to mains connections without the need for excavations. Â At that time this was very much a journey, a visionary project, no one knew if it could be achieved.
During the development of the Tier One Replacement System (TORS) Â there have been two main challenges 1) Technological 2) Change Management as it would be a âgame changerâ for replacement, repair and management of the UK Gas Network. The project has been challenging, thought provoking, and rewarding on so many levels and has become a great example of how innovating together and working in collaboration with multiple parties with passion and belief can overcome so much.
Synthotech is so proud to have reached a significant milestone, it’s an incredible achievement that on the 16th May 2017, we undertook our first operational on street trial. The conditions for the trials were not optimum with the excavations flooded, but TORS really showed its capabilities.
Thank you to all that have played a part in the journey so far ~ the journey continues.
