Last week, Synthotech had the pleasure of welcoming Wallace Sampson OBE, Chief Executive of Harrogate Borough Council and Trevor Watson, Director of Economy and Culture for Harrogate Borough Council to our head office.
Synthotech hosted a mini-innovation event to showcase the latest developments involved with our robotics systems and solutions. Meetings like these with local councils are incredibly valuable to showcase not only our technology but the great innovations driven by the gas industry to progress to net zero and minimum interruptions to our community through robotics.
During the event, we wanted to highlight the key work we’ve been developing over the last few months in order to advance solutions that mean less interruptions for gas and water networks across the UK. Synthotech was proud to share our innovations aimed at minimising roadworks and using robotics to improve utility operations and productivity.
Overall, the day was a great opportunity to show how the Yorkshire region is leading the way in robotics being developed and used for the utilities space. In addition, the event raised local awareness for robotics, local manufacturing and how the region is contributing to the UK wide energy award winning innovation.
One solution we showcased was our STASS robotic crawler that is being used to combat methane emissions. The robotic vehicle can be used in live gas pipes up to 2barg from 12 inches and above. Travelling up to 125 meters in each direction from an excavation, the system locates joints and applies an anaerobic sealant to prevent them from leaking. This solution is currently being used in UK’s main Gas Distribution Networks and can be operated by their own robotics teams.
Synthotech has a range of engineering solutions for the global utility market, including live CCTV systems and in-pipe robotics. If you’re interested in more of the products and service we can offer, click here.
